Dairypack's donation of 1Lt HDPE bottles for the treatment of diarrhoea in the Western Cape helps saves lives.
Diarrhoea kills an astonishing 1.6 million children under 5 every year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The disease kills more children than either malaria or AIDS, stunts growth and forces millions - of both adults and children - to spend weeks at a time off work or school.
Oral rehydration therapy (ORT) and the use of clean and hygienic bottles by parents to make hydration mixtures of the right quantities for their children suffering from diarrhoea is key for successful treatment.
Dairypack's donation of 1Lt HDPE bottles has been handed out to mothers in the diarrhoea ward of Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town as well as other government clinics and NGO's. "They are a real life - saver!" says Simon Mendelsohn.
